| DESIGN NAME: Fengqi Chang’an Aesthetics Museum PRIMARY FUNCTION: Exhibition Hall INSPIRATION: This project is inspired by nature, traditional Chinese gardens and landscape paintings focus on mountains, forests, wind and water with flexible layout, as well as characteristics such as the reality and unreality, opening and closing, twists and turns, high and low, etc.. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Through the combo of different sizes of functional forms, architects combine various courtyards and inlay the elements of verandas to create a continuous, flexible and rich garden space.Besides of the usage for exhibition, the building takes the experience of visitors in the garden into account. The courtyards are set up according to various functions, including the ones for display, communication, meditation, activities and etc., which are blended with each other through crisscrossed corridors OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Besides of the usage for exhibition, the building also takes the experience of visitors in the garden into account. Extensive application of glass, large span of door leaf and large size of overhanging eave blend together, forming a continuous and orderly frame. With well-proportioned shapes, volumes of different sizes and orderly layout, the building meets various functional demands. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Extensive application of glass, large span of door leaf and large size of overhanging eave blend together, forming a continuous and orderly frame. With well-proportioned shapes, volumes of different sizes and orderly layout, the building meets various functional demands. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: the project is with a building scale of 6,400 square meters and an area of 16,000 square meters TAGS: nature, gentle, traditional courtyards, visiting experience, large size of overhanging eave RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Inspired by nature, traditional Chinese gardens and landscape paintings focus on mountains, forests, wind and water with flexible layout, as well as characteristics such as the reality and unreality, opening and closing, twists and turns, high and low, etc.. CHALLENGE: This project is located in Yanta District of Xi’an, China, which is an ancient capital with a time-honored history and rich cultural heritage. The purpose of the design is to integrate the building into a modern living space and activity function on the premise of respecting the traditional garden spatial relationship.
