RESEARCH ABSTRACT: There were two main parts of researching, functional and aesthetic. The joinery used in past were considered and rebuilt to satisfy the functionality for modern era. The old details have to work with new modern twist to create an aesthetically balanced product, so the inspiration for the pattern had to come from the past.
CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to combine the design from past with today's technology to create a product, which could be made of solid wood, so there was a lot of joinery designing during a process. Also the graphical part of whole project was challenging. It involved studying a local carpentry, folk art, talking to people about using the furniture in old days.
