RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
During the concept development, I wanted to highlight the contrast between the precision of woodworking and the empirical and handicraft thermoforming of glass. Starting from the base of the sideboard, walking along the oak strips, you arrive on the surface where the glass becomes the protagonist, as if the shape of the strips were a consequence of the deformation of the glass

CHALLENGE:
The most complex challenge was faced during glass processing. The handmade thermoforming is obtained by placing the glass plate on a shape placed inside the oven. The glass attains at the plastic state thanks to the heat and tends to take the shape of the mold by gravity. There is no way to stop forming at a precise moment, because it’s necessary to consider the cooling time, during which the glass continues to deform. During the realization of the prototype, various tests were carried out until the right deformation was obtained.
