DESIGN NAME: Vanke Financial Centre 3rd Stage
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mix-use Architecture
INSPIRATION: Located at central area of Chancheng District of Foshan City, it is labeled as top-end financial-concentrated commercial complex. Design concept is to integrate existing 2nd stage towers and form a building group. Annex building emphasizes on creating "stereoscopic and open city interface", keeping lower part as open as possible, connecting roof vegetation with traffic system, adding city vegetation space, providing visitors a highly-efficient, safe, open, green, comfortable public space.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It is the 3rd stage public construction land of Vanke Financial Center. Design aims at integrating towers of 2nd and 3rd stage as a group, corresponding to each other in shape, material, details while maintain uniqueness.
Takes advantage of existing traffic facilities, extends overpass and underground paths to core region of the project, provides multiple semi-open areas along two main highways, convenient for people to access for business purpose and for residents to get in and out of the park.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is a complex including offices, hotel, commercial center, parking lot. Research and analysis have been done on streamline of all functions and the operation need of their respective life circle, scientific layout of entrances and exits and their interconnection. An all-open lower part is designed considering the local climate characteristics and it facilitates the people of the area to access and communicate, carrying out commercial events, and becomes highlights of the project design.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2014 in Foshan city, China and will be finished in June 2019 in Foshan city, China

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Land area is 34507.79sqm, total construction area 322592.55sqm (above ground 257866.22 sqm, underground 64726.33 sqm). It consists of 3 super high-rise office buildings (towerB with 35 floors, towerC with 39 floors, towerD with 48 floors), one annex building (4 floors) and a basement (3 floors). Towers are mainly for office and hotel purpose; annex building for commercial usage, conference center and municipal supporting facility; basement for commercial usage, parking lot and equipment rooms

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design takes account of the geological location, local climate characteristics, city features, cultural features and full life circle design. It is our research focus to integrate a financial complex with multiple functions, altitudes, supporting facilities, streamlines and high density into the city. With designing concepts of holistic designing, open-style city space, featured architecture and multiple functions interaction, the optimum solution is achieved
CHALLENGE: The project has complicated function goals. The owner's existing property has to meet flexibility of the full life circle of the whole complex. How to connect the existing buildings and half-completed construction with new project is also one of the challenges.
