DESIGN NAME: Cartouche
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Dress Form
INSPIRATION: A cartouche is an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic nameplate, shaped like an oval and a king's name written inside of the oval
The oval surrounding their name was meant to protect them from evil spirits in life and after death. The cartouche has become a symbol representing good luck and protection from evil
so cartouch shape was my main inspiration
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Dress Form is an item of furniture on which clothes, may be hung.
it will help the user to have the entire outfit not just picked out but laid out in such a way as to make dress fast and efficient. For instance, using clothes stand the shirt, jacket and pants are hung and easily accessible
it also provided a shelf which you can put aroma sticks to add a good smell to the clothes
and also a mirror with a cartouche design to check out your clothes outfit.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Cartouche can be used to hang clothes to keep them in shape and to prepare a complete outfit and accessories for the day ahead.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This Project started in November 2018 in Cairo, Egypt and finished in March 2019

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Cartouche Main material is beech wood and wood veneer for mirror frame and also for the ottoman form.
ottoman seating is from green velvet material
The mannequin form is from the steel frame and marked with the help of a laser engraving machine.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The type of research used for this design was rather philosophical than technical to bring back the marvelous ancient Egyptian design to life. Blending the greatness of Pharaonic designs with the simplicity of modern makes it a timeless furniture piece, yet for everyday use in residential spaces.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was to revive Ancient Egyptian culture and create unique, contemporary functional Pharaonic design.
