DESIGN NAME: Gemdale Theone Property
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Landscape and Architecture
INSPIRATION: THE ONE in Guangzhou sponsored by Gemdale Property runs an idea, “the experience site of landscape and art, and the landmark of metropolis and humanity.” The design rooted from the culture of Lingnan culture, enhancing the sense of aesthetics marked by the landscape design infused with valued residences in exquisite ornament.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The integrated intervention includes the architecture, courtyard, landscape and interior design, accomplished the cozy dwelling environment. The view extends to the deep courtyard, combining with nature to break the boundaries between outdoor and indoor. Pavilion becomes the vital part of the courtyard, which meets both shield of sunlight and sight view. The pavilion was made of metal in semi-apparent form offering private space for chatting, yum cha, reading.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The layout merges symmetry of axis and appropriate functions in one. Stainless steel ribbon sculpture forms up the optical center at the entrance. The walking steps and hedgerow bring out a sense of ceremony while entering the architecture, complemented by recreation deck and waterscape to support human activities.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design tends to convey the internal fusion of Lingnan Customs from a world of Hakka folk and modern life. “Let the landscape calmly coordinate the relationship between people, nature, and the society to create a perfect living space.”- Design with Nature, Ian L. McHarg.
CHALLENGE: Like most of the property projects in China, the deadline is always short and tight. In that case, the architect replaced some construction materials and technique used for the original concept. Simultaneously, to minimize the impact drawn by the neighboring blocks, the team added various types of trees and plants vertically to create a land of idyllic beauty.
