PRIMARY FUNCTION: Educational Toy
INSPIRATION: We are always looking for an easy way to let children learn with fun. The best way to learn human body is to go inside to look at it, which cannot be done by a book or physical model. By using AR technology, kid can learn by 3D interactive model and study the structure from the physical anatomy model. We have spent a lot of time in the research and development of this product. These anatomy models are consulted by over 10 specialists, and we provide the best to the kids.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: AR Human Science series is a professional model with AR 3D model to enhance kid's learning interest, we renovate the traditional way of learning into an interactive, fun and attractive way. It uses the smartphone app to interact with anatomy model to shows the 3D animation and takes kid through each of body’s system, from the skeleton, muscles to vein and nerves. Explore what they consist of and how they work. The anatomy models, illustrate detail of a bumping heart, blood flows directly and more. which make the investigation of the human body vivid. We believe this series of product can raise kid’s interest of learning and make a better world.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2018 in Hong Kong and finished in Feb 2019 in Hong Kong, and was exhibited in HK toy fair in Jan 2019 and Nuremberg toy fair in Feb 2019

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For production, the engraving and coloring requirements of the human body model are very precise. To achieve the best results, we use different materials for different parts. By using soft plastic for organ parts, we can show more detail and it looks more realistic. It also requires stringent temperature control in the injection molding process, otherwise the different parts will not fit.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our Challenge is 'How to turn a textbook into a new format that children like'. We spend a lot of time in children research and learning behavior. And we find that transforming a text book into an attractive VR interface can enhance and facilitate motivation of learning for children. Previous research shown that children tends to pursuit with technology much easier than adult, and adopting 4D model and AR technology can reveal the unseen parts of human body which is a powerful and effective way to let children to explore the human function, system and the inter-relationship of organs. It opens up visual and sensual experience in alternative media to enhance learning. In order to provide the most accurate and relevant information to the kids, we consulted over 10 specialists for these anatomy models.
CHALLENGE: As we mentioned in the research abstract, the first challenge is 'How to turn a textbook into a new format that children like'.
Secondly, we are facing the technical challenge of 'How to integrate AR technology with the physical model'.
When applying AR technology, we developed several AR interface designs to find the most suitable one for this product. We need to solve some technical problem such as misplacement between the 3D model and physical model and change of lighting condition that affects the accuracy of recognition.
