Brand Identity

INSPIRATION:
COLONS has been inspired by the moments that time and space make. Our purpose is to present people the most beautiful moments COLONS has found. So COLONS have created the concept of "See the moment" that we use as a slogan when we create brand identity and all design elements. COLONS has linked all design units organically to create a consistent brand experience based on this concept.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
COLONS is a luxury eyewear brand. The brand name stems from the colon(:), the symbol logo stems from shape of hour and minute hand. COLONS' fonts and patterns are visualized using twelve angles of the clock index. These indexes are used for express a 'time lock' on the front of eyewears. The 'time lock' refers to a specific time, which is the name of the eyewears like 07:25. COLONS' identity is also organically linked to the delivery system, all office tools, marketing ads, and visuals.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The identity of COLONS shares a special time with customers. COLONS is a design unit that represents the most beautiful moments, giving the customer a three-dimensional experience. Through that experience, customers will enjoy the most beautiful moment by using their most beautiful moment.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in August 2017 in Seoul and finished in September 2018 in Seoul, and was exhibited in Kintex (South Korea)

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
COLONS studied theory of relativity to gain inspiration in time and space. Based on the research, We found that photography is the most effective way to express time and space. So, Colons try to take the most beautiful pictures for a long time.

CHALLENGE:
COLONS's main hurdle was to communicate the brand experience (time and space) to the customer, and we had to develop a new design for every communication subject to make the story and concept consistent.

PROFILE:
COLONS is an eyewear brand that makes eyewear using wood and titanium. COLONS makes products in Sabae, Japan. COLONS products overcame the limitations of conventional wooden frame glasses and sublimated function to design, creating new products that have never existed anywhere. A colon is the symbol between the hour number and the minute number on digital watches. COLONS logo represents watch hands. COLONS eyewear is inspired by the watch.
