DESIGN NAME:
Metamorphosis

INSPIRATION:
When I first saw the industrial area close by, all the negative image I had for factories was replaced by a special world of its own often created in movies and games.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The image of heavy industrial area is often associated with pollution, productivity and materialistic power. In this series, I have worked from a different perspective giving 2 faces; a beauty in its geometric form during the day and a bright shining cosmic fortress in the darkness of the night.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The camera was fixed on the tripod using ND filters and long exposure to capture the movement of smoke and light blowing from the chimeney.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project is an ongoing project and started in 2011 at Keihin industrial region.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
By using 35mm digital photography to capture frames, then used DXO filmpack to add film grain tone to create a smoky atmosphere.

To focus on another story of the factory by combining the contrasting face of the factory during the day/night time.

NAME:
Atsushi Maeda Photography
PROFILE:
Atsushi Maeda is a professional photographer based in Tokyo, Japan.
His interest in photography started in 2004 when he was still a university student. He was in charge of the stage lighting at the university and worked as a lighting assistant for a team that created TV adverts and promotion videos for music artists.
His fascination of how light and shadow created a different perception in color, texture, form and ambience soon progressed to using the camera to capture a fragment of his imagination.
He has been working as a professional photographer specializing in food and fine art. One of his series is exhibited in the guest rooms at the St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Currently, he is interested in the life of the streets and capturing moments of "Ma", the space and dialogue.
