| DESIGN NAME: Composition PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cemetery INSPIRATION: The composition tried to represent the sense of deep respect for the place of burial. The themes of Enclosure and Portal were used to define and to enphasize the feeling of respect that belongs to the act of custody. The enclosure is an element of identification and protection of the place. The portal defines and makes recognizable the passage from a public site to a most intimate place represented by cemetery plots.Through these symbols we tried to create a replicable model of cemetery UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The site is located nearby Historical centre, in the unique space surrounded by nature. The design seeks to respect the closeness to the nature ensuring cemetery contemplation. The Office realized two specular 3 levels buildings with 252 cemetery plots covered by red bricks. Each level is served by covered balconies and by a staircase that, in addition to serving the three levels of the building, presents itself as an urban element, a street that favors circulation, communication and socialization OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Each block is two sides open and it is easily accessible to the public. Moreover, the stairs and the balconies are designed as urban elements to promote communication and socialization. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It was used concrete for the structure and red bricks to cover the niches. Simply and traditional materials to represent and to respect this contemplation place. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Two blocks realized. Each block dimension: Width 9,50 m x Depth 17,00 m x Height 8,40 m TAGS: cemetery, architecture, building, concrete, brick, burian, model, composition RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Composition choice derives from the intention to create a replicable model of cemetery. A place where people can recognize the building as a contemplative space. For this reason the architectural composition built in the first block is repeated mirrored in the second. CHALLENGE: The big challenge of this project: Trying to create a replicable model that it can be adapted anywhere. A model capable of respecting the specific Italian local identities and law through the use of traditional materials such as concrete and bricks.
