DESIGN NAME: Eidiyah
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Money Envelope
INSPIRATION: I was looking for an idea that preserves money-gifting tradition, but frames it in a fresh approach. The envelopes make it easier for adults to pre-arrange their gifts. The lively colors and concealed money create excitement for the children. I inspired the designs from my happy walks around the neighborhood, observing the charming details in flowers. I invested hours experimenting clasp ideas, to fine-tune how the envelopes are closed, creating re-usable and environmentally friendly envelopes
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Eidiyah is a money envelope collection that is designed to be gifted from adults to children on the occasion of Eid(a Muslim celebration). Eidyah helps parents distributing Eid money gifts by Placing the money in a beautiful and organized manner. The Vibrant colors of the envelopes reflect the festive occasion of Eid. They are printed on laminated thick paper and are creatively opened and closed with a clasp that contributes to the design and function of the envelopes. The type used on the design is developed using Adobe Illustrator especially for this project
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: These vibrant envelopes are being gifted with concealed money inside to children on the day of Eid. The clasp represents a window on the day of Eid that opens and closes to reveal the envelope's contents without tearing it apart.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I start by taking the size that fits the money note, without being bent. After that, I try to visualize how I could snap close the envelope without using glue. I sketch some options and then try them out on plain paper. Once I decide on the clasp, I draw over the dummy, scan it and then transfer the scanned design on photoshop and paint it digitally using brushes. I copy the drawings to Adobe Illustrator, fabricate and print a new dummy, Finally, I send the final artwork to the press.
CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this design was being able to snap the envelope open and close without glue and without tearing it apart right away and making sure the window part closes correctly and the illustration is continued seamlessly. Explaining the way of opening and closing it to the public was a challenge but I combined an additional illustrated instructions paper along with the envelope package to deliver the message.
