DESIGN NAME: AB Workspace
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cabin
INSPIRATION: In a bid to transfer the feel of urban development, agility and high-tech designs into the countryside, combined with smooth transitions and mobility, the cabin idea came to life. The mobile nature of the cabin made it possible to bring a sense of urban development deep into the remote country. The cabin, created to serve as a new office location for the firm, stands out as a unique modern structure in a fairly rural setting. It is a place where both, designers and clients meet to share knowledge, experiences, ideas, and emotions.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: AB Architects has their mobile workspace cabin in a central location between three Lebanese districts. The new office was situated to be within reach and close contact with their diverse client base of varying backgrounds and localities.
The 22 m2 cabin is located in a fairly rural setting on the main highway and the architecture stands as an urban form in contrast to its surroundings. On the main level, the interior includes a metallic office desk, a high-end seating area, a small kitchen, and a toilet. The rooftop also functions as a terrace, enabling a panoramic view of astonishing nature.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The on-site construction and material requirements were specified beforehand as to allow efficient installation to happen within a couple of weeks, avoiding an elongated process on site. Overall, the design creates an efficient compact workspace, tailor-made for and by AB architects.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was initiated in August 2018 and took a full month to be completed. It is located on the main highway in a central location between three Lebanese districts, an hour and a half drive from the capital Beirut to south Lebanon.

It is completed with framed windows, while the floor is plywood tiled with porcelain installed with silicone.
