PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pilates Equipment
INSPIRATION: Pilates is a method of exercise which concentrates on strengthening the body with an emphasis on core strength. The method is very carefully and thoroughly designed by Joseph Pilates in 1940's to improve posture, balance and flexibility and thus overall well-being of people. The idea of designing the Wunda Chair comes from the idea that such a detailed method of contrology needed a supporting and fine tuned equipment for exercisers benefits and their need for refined design.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Wunda is a Pilates equipment designed to improve posture, balance and flexibility. It is a result of well calculated resistance options concentrated into a single equipment for an effective workout. Fine tuning adjustability and materials chosen for active use accommodates the exercisers in a comfortable way. Designed with functional angles and smooth transitions, Wunda is a compact equipment to fit into studios, homes and SPA's for daily Pilates workout.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Smooth transitions between resistance settings. Rounded ergonomic split pedal offers comfort as well as consistent and broad range of motion. Equipped with easy grip and antibacterial and orthopedic cushioning. Removable handles with four locking positions. Prepared to support auxiliary pieces for enhanced repertoire.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project has started in Istanbul in 2014 with the constant contribution of Mr. Rael Isacowitz and Mr. Cengiz Han Ucgun as consultants and after 1,5 years of R&D first model were ready for evaluation by the most renowned Pilates Master in the world Mr. Rael Isacowitz. After 6 more months of adjustment it was all ready for the release into the global market in August 2015 in Istanbul with the opening party in the Four Seasons Hotel at the Bosphorus.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For the wood outer frame: Plywood layered with marine glue and covered with a special indoor non-breathing anti toxic formula lacquer.
For aluminum parts: 7075 grade aluminum and anodization for smooth touch.
For composit part: elastomers for the handles and polyurethane mould shaped foot bars for non slip and easy cleaning surface.
For the seat: antibacterial and non as dye vinyl for the sitting surfaces.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project has started with realization that Pilates, also know as Contrology method, needed equipment that would answer to contemporary needs. It needed to be designed in such ways that it would accommodate the user with comfort and minimum interaction with gears. The first objective in mind was to make the use of equipment set ups and transitions as smooth and quick as possible so the user will enjoy exercising rather that dealing with setup mechanism. Materials were all choose to feel warm to the touch of bare legs, feet and hands. Best supporting materials were researched and applied to make people feel as welcome as possible.
CHALLENGE: The research challenge was to use the highest quality and sustainable materials to build equipment with biomechanics and aesthetic integrity.
