| DESIGN NAME: Riolax Curie PRIMARY FUNCTION: Spa INSPIRATION: The Curie design is inspired by different product areas. We worked 'outside' of the spas field, in order to bring innovations and new solutions from different worlds. It was designed to be more than a product, but a piece of design, to be the center of the attentions wherever disposable but not visually aggressive. Its clean and minimal lines, are responsible for making Curie style versatile and adaptable in every ambient it is in. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Curie Design can be summed up in three key words:innovative, clean and iconic. Its design is a result of the search for inspirations in several areas and products, which guarnteed to the project, innovation in materials and processes. Curie's design brings in its essence the balance between form and function. The exclusive model is the largest Acrylic Shell Spa in Brazil, with 2700 x 2500mm. It promises to please and surprise even the most demanding customer OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Curie fits inside 8 people seated confortable or 5 people seated and one in the oposite side, layed. Its large size, gives to the user a really nice room for the legs. The user, can also enjoy the Spa having a drink, from the built-in minibar. All the features(such as jets speed, temperature, waterfall, inside led colors, heater) can be easly controled by an phone app or by the control panel in the border of the spa. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2017 and finished in March 2018 in Cedral(Sao Paulo state inland), and was launched in March at EXPO REVESTIR 2018 in Sao Paulo city. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The First part of the project was done totally digital, with sketches, renders and 3D modeling, to reach and accurate final design. For the second development part, supported by the 3D file, a 1:1 mold was hand-made in order to be used in the vacuum forming machine for the acryllic. The Acryllic Shell provides a really smooth and single piece. The side panels in ACM material, introduces a new lightweight, resistent and versitile material in this field. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 2500mm width x 2700mm depth x 1000mm high TAGS: clean, minimal, rational, iconic, sophisticated RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Curie was meant to be an iconic product, so we started evaluating the market, and thinking about how could it be different. Having in mind that its design should stand out from the others, we took distance from the spas and started to look to other products, like furnitures and cars, looking for inspiration and innovation. We ended up with key-words: innovative, clean and iconic, and the main style inspiration were simple geometric forms, to be versatile, intuitive and not visualy agressive. CHALLENGE: As a project directed to production, since the beggining all the reasearch was done with that in mind. Materials and processes used should be feasible, already on the market, premium but at the same time they should fit in a budget.
