DESIGN NAME: Ingrede Set
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cutlery
INSPIRATION: When designing my cutlery I was intrigued by natures harmony. The fact that mathematics is seamlessly intertwined within the surrounding us world is really fascinating. When looking for the inspirations I had in mind this notion of harmony and order. One of my main product design inspirational work was the Juicy Salif Lemon Squeezer by Philippe Starck.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: My Ingrede cutlery set is designed to express the need for perfection in everyday life. Set of fork, spoon and knife slot-together using magnets. The cutlery stands vertically to be something more than just a cutlery set. Its main purpose is to bring harmony to the table. Mathematical shapes allowed me to construct one fluid form that consists out of three different pieces.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: I strive to redefine the place of cutlery in the eating process. Instead of creating, mess on table and plate, it will now have its own , . As a stand-alone piece, it will create visual harmony, aesthetic positioning of dining utensils and facilitate the eating process.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2018 in Manchester UK and finished in January 2019 in Manchester UK, and was exhibited in craft center Manchester exhibition as well as student internal exhibition.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The set is made out of stainless steel. Its new shape ensures greater practicality, efficiency, and multidimensionality of sensations while eating. Four peaks will enable effective sticking of hard materials, while enlarged curved surfaces will let more pleasantly eat fish, soft dishes and sauces.
The whole set was handcrafted. The reason why I choose this method is that I wanted the original set to have a sculptural feel to it and an emotional impact on the viewer.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The height of the set is 170mm x 40mm when folded. The cutlery use magnet mechanism for locking it up.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The achievements of the old Masters were the guide for me when searching for HARMONY in the development of my own project. I have looked at ancient constructions as pyramids, old masters sculptures such as David by Michelangelo. As a person with OCD I always look for the most eye-pleasing combinations of shapes and when designing this cutlery set I had in mind other people that feel and struggle with the same psychological disorder.
CHALLENGE: This idea is really challenging because it is completely redefining the concept of cutlery. The bold sculptural look of this piece is very often reserved only for bigger creations such as furniture or architecture, but when I design I always try to break the boundaries. The second challenge was the fact that products such as cutlery are very often designed for the mass productions, and this product focuses on the minority needs and aesthetical aspect of design.
