DESIGN DETAILS |
DESIGN NAME: DQ House
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence
INSPIRATION: An architectural object of great sobriety and simplicity was sought that would be balanced and rigorous, where the different materials employed are shown in their essence, without intermediaries.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The residence is part of a large rectangular brick prism resting on concrete slabs that organize the spaces. From this prism are subtracted volumes where the openings and the balconies of the second floor occur. The closure of the house downstairs takes place through glass plans, maintaining transparency and the interior / exterior relation, resulting in a fluid, warm and dynamic interior space, flooded with natural light.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The intimate area is separated and isolated on the upper deck in the solid block of bricks, in contrast to the more fluid social life on the ground floor. The upper floor is distributed in two separate cores, that of the couple and the children, which are connected by a footbridge.
In the staircase an emptiness integrates the two floors, generating a wide and illuminated circulation area.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Location: TORRES - RS
Land area: 1,900
Built area: 660,00

As I was scrolling through the A' Design Award winners, I was in awe of the work of DQ House. It's a stunning example of what architecture, building and structure design can be. The attention to detail and the thoughtful layout of the residence make it a beautiful and functional space. The thoughtful use of colors and materials add a level of sophistication and grandeur to the interior and exterior that is not often found in architecture. The work of DQ House is an absolute masterpiece, and I am so glad it was recognized with an A' Design Award. Congratulations to Alberto Torres for their fantastic work!

I'm absolutely taken with DQ House, the award-winning work from the A' Design Award. This residence is remarkable in its simplicity and yet is incredibly balanced and rigorous. The brick prism and concrete slabs that organize the spaces are a testament to the designer's vision of creating a minimalist design with few materials. I am particularly impressed with the glass plans that close the house downstairs and maintain a fluid, warm and dynamic interior space, flooded with natural light. This successful balance between expectations of the family, the connection with nature and the lake, and the need for privacy is a perfect example of a well-executed design.

It is easy to see why this work was selected for the A' Design Award. The residence, with its rectangular brick prism, creates a strong visual impact while still providing a sense of warmth and dynamism. The concrete slabs that organize the spaces provide a great contrast to the glass plans that close the house downstairs. The transparency of the glass plans creates a fluid connection between the interior and exterior, and floods the interior space with an abundance of natural light. This is a truly remarkable work that deserves to be celebrated.
