| DESIGN NAME: Music House PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: The house is designed to cater the activity of a musician family and guests, such as playing instruments,recitals UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The facade consists of 2 types of element, solid and semi-transparent, just like how music has vocal weight. Solid facade illustrates heavy tones such as tenor, baritone or bass; semi-transparent facade illustrates high singing tones like soprano. The “solid element” is represented with materials like concrete, while “semi-transparent element” is represented with glass and concrete grill to create the not-so-transparent effect.The stair creates the flow of space and functions to display artwork OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The house is a place where the users can do their daily activity such as playing music instruments, socializing, and enjoying greenery views. Stair becomes an active space where users can sit and interact, and show artwork collection. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The use of concrete as the main material in the building is to produce a simple detail of trapezoid roof that is gradually inclined from first floor to second floor. This method supports the idea of fluidity of the building. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Built area: 420sqm TAGS: Residential House, Music House, Continuity, Harmony, Fluidity RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The architect was invited to a music rehearsal hosted by the client's friend. The client explains his dream to own a house that allows music rehearsal activity. As a result, the architect came up with the concept of continuity and harmony of strains of musical tones and designed a space to allow musical recitals activity for the client and guests.
