PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: With the aim of creating a timeless architecture noble materials are proposed. Always looking for something that does not go out of style. The skin of the building is made with a type of metal enclosure made of perforated anodized aluminum plates, a material manufactured in Colombia. The metalice appearance of some elements was achieved thanks to use of a decorative cement used in Cement Design's Metallic Collection, an exclusive fine granulometry material, made of natural steel. All the products of the collection are made with metals extracted from nature in its pure state.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Currently the store has more than 18,000 square meters of exhibition, updated technologically, well lit thanks to the integration of natural and artificial light. The first floor is dedicated to decorations and decoration accessories, some galleries have been arranged to exhibit exclusive lines, while other areas are designed to be used for special events, missile launchers and art exhibitions. One of the new spaces is a small cafe that stands out for the contrasts and decoration details. On the outside green areas were proposed that soften the site and the integration to the avenue.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After nearly four decades of history, the Ilumel store is one of the largest and most prestigious firms in the Dominican Republic in the furniture, lighting and decoration market. The most recent intervention responds to the need for expansion and expansion of the exhibition areas and the definition of a cleaner and more articulated route that allows us to appreciate the variety of collections available. In addition, on that occasion it was elaborated a master plan for future growth.
CHALLENGE: The studio was aware of the great challenge to demand for buildings of architectural value and which were the icons for the city, and the large scale of the project involved the risk of becoming a very massive element. In the design process the proportions and various elements such as the gray facade were respected, and the silhouette of the original design was maintained.
