DESIGN NAME: Bird Cage
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Illustration
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for these pieces came about after the loss of a good friend to suicide last year. This piece is the result of trying to come to terms with this experience in my life. Why do we make split second decisions that can ultimately effect us for the rest of our lives. This is a question never struck me as hard as it has recently.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: These pieces are open to interpretation. For me, it is an exploration of the deep feelings we often experience and how they sometimes erupt in a way we find hard to explain. Trauma, inspiration, epiphany, all these emotions are so raw and full of power yet they are so difficult to describe simply by using the word catharsis. My work is an attempt to convey more than that.
We live in a society that demands the impossible act of numbing the soul.
