The designer take the advantages of the hill-side topography to benefits in many aspects including; aesthetic, cost-efficiency, level and space mapping, and scenery to features natural richness of both sunrise and sunset view. Guest rooms are located wide-spread along the hillside on a different level in order to get a non-disruptive ocean view from each unit. Both parties from design consultant and the Property Developer have agreed to maximize work efficiency and resources which available locally. Concrete structure is presented in considerable number rather than presenting massive volume, and retaining wall will taking a big part in the project due to the form of its topography. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As a resort that will be built as one unity and solid integration with Tanjung Siung Lombok, a good communication between the design consultant and the developer have to be carried along with its vision and mission. It has a vital role to complement in both function and aesthetic by not disrupting other venues, but as a supplement to support each other.
CHALLENGE: The designer faced multiple challenges on this project from the concept itself, architectural possibilities and business considerations. As demanded to be a new pride of Indonesia that welcoming international reputable guests, the design need to be accepted by all group of people in diversified backgrounds, yet has to be admirable. On other side, the design need to look on every details in a worst scenario such as moisture and moss that possibly happens on the interior side of retaining wall and the flow of rain water. Those possibilities are taken into account and therefore, the designer implanted solutions in the design such as gutter between sandwiching-wall to prevent future conflicts. On top of that, wheel-chair friendly environment must be well-planned though the flow-concept is an open-air town.
