DESIGN NAME: Memoria
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table
INSPIRATION: I was inspired by the Pavilion for the exhibition in Barcelona -projected by Mies van der rohe- and its famous cross pillars.
I imagined the legs of this table with the cross plan and after recovering wooden boards that several years ago my father got from an old oak fallen due to natural events I felt strongly motivated to bring forward this project. The signes of time are evident on these axes as they were left at the natural stage.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design of this table comes out of the conventional schemes.
The strengths are:
- Solid oak top left at the natural stage in the slightest way
touch the existing lesions
- the four iron legs also left natural
Moreover each leg of the table is formed by two iron plates interlocked with laser cutting, without welding aid, to form a Greek cross profile.
The above mentioned featuresmake this table a unique piece.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The table is a unique piece that enriches the environment in which it is placed. it makes the environment elegant” and can be easily integrated into different context . Use in a living room is recommended. Whatever the style of furnishing of the environment in which it is to be placed, the unique character of this design object will be highlighted.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Objective: to create a table with natural products. The research was carried out trying to understand the feasibility and the method of assembly of the various components. After extensive research studies on the table legs, a full-scale wooden prototype was created. Once the feasibility has been reached, thanks to the prototype, we have moved on to the next phase of the final realization.
CHALLENGE: Main obstacle: lack of of cross-shaped profiles. The obstacle was overcome by using two plates and joining them with a laser cut on each other creating the male-female couple. Secondary obstacle: not perfect planarity of the wooden planks.
