DESIGN NAME: Trojan Horse
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Branding
INSPIRATION: This design is inspired from the legend of trojan horse. Every year Athens film festival enters the town like Trojan horse and film makers dominate the town by their movies. In addition, as dog has been the symbol of this festival from 45 years ago, playful dogs plays the role of film makers. For example, in the poster they are starting to dominate the city, in the T-shirt they are dominating the heart and on the coasters they are celebrating their victory.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This entry is a set of promotional materials, designed for Athens film festival. This promotional set contains different materials like, poster, T-shirt, Tote bag and etc. What is different about this entry is it has a narrative language. Indeed, each material narrates a specific parts of a story in full detailed illustration, so when become applied next to each other, not only are they visually harmonic, but also they are coordinated as different chapters of a story.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The posters were install all around the town in addition to Ohio university campus. The T-shirts and lanyards were used by festival staffs, film makers and guests and some limited editions were sold to the audiences in the Athena cinema. The coasters were donated to different cafes in the town and other stuffs were given to different departments of Ohio university campus.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 2017 in Athens, OH and finished in April 2018 and was exhibited and used around Athens and Athena cinema in April 2018.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: First of all, all of the compositions and characters were sketched manually, then they were digitalized by Adobe Illustrator. After executing the illustrations, they were printed as T-shirt, tote bag and poster by silk screen techniques and printed as coaster, program and envelop in digital technique.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Encouraging young students to participate in the film festival was the main goal, so the designer did a research about the history of festival and looked at the archive of last promotional materials. Indeed, she noticed final design should have a kind of experimental feeling and youthful taste, because Athens film festival supports less-Know young artists. Then, the designer did a practical research by showing first sketches to a group of young students to know their idea about the main concept.
CHALLENGE: Lack of a coherent theme in the last promotional materials was the most important challenge.
