| DESIGN NAME: Sellamylome Resort PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel INSPIRATION: The main idea of this project was to design an ecological and natural structure that integrates the bay in front and the forest behind the construction location for protect the environment and design a peaceful building with nature and the sea. Nature contains organic forms and circular lines. Also nature contains the colors, blue like sky and sea, green like the plants, brown like the soil and timber. The design process was attaching the forms, colors and materials of nature to create the natural space. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The facade design has wavy forms (like the mediterranean sea), terrace gardens and open spaces for feeling in touch with nature in every room. The wavy forms of facade were also made for different sun angles of the seasons for getting more shadow in summer, getting more sun in winter time inside the room. Moreover the skylight which is located in the middle of the circular part of the hotel, which is above the main lobby will save lighting energy all day long by get directly sunlight. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: All the rooms of the hotel are especially designed to have a seaview. There is also a opportunity for people attach importance to privacy and wants relax in their rooms. Swim up suites are designed for private use and watch the sunset from the infinity pool with the harmony of the sea. The complex is directly located in front of the sea which is in the walking distance. Several facilities are located on the front yard like pool, kids pool, aquapark, amusement park, amphitheatre, shops, cafe, snack bar, beach bar, mini club and alacart restaurants. Shops and snack bars are designed like a city street for walk around and shopping. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Eco-Friendly, Local materials, Reinforced Concrete, Natural Wood SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total Land Area : 14.000 m² / Rooms : 430 / Facade Dimensions : 174 m x 46 m at sea side, 174 m x 21 m at entrance side / Floors : 13 floors at sea side, 6 floors at entrance side TAGS: Ecological, Eco-Friendly, Mediterranean Waves, Natural, Seaview, Resort, Hotel, Antalya, Turkey RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Because of the unique location of the hotel, the most important thing we had to do before get started architectural planning was to do research on topography architecture. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of the design process was planning of a huge elevation diffrence of the land. The biggest challenge of the project was finding a solution not to get a very tall facade because of approximately 23 meters elevation difference between entrance level and sea level.
