PRIMARY FUNCTION: Artistic Installation
INSPIRATION: The whole hive gives a sense of the joy of eating a few mouthfuls of honey.The design element of honeycomb is a straight line, and the design element of the queen bee adopts arc line,3D data generation and 3D laser cutting technology are used to make the art installation exquisite.The intersecting reduction of the square body and the sphere increases the interesting variability of the honeycomb,and the mechanical characteristics of the arch structure can balance the force itself.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The artistic installation is set in the central corridor inside the shopping center,the passage is conducted through intersection,subtracting and division between comb honey cube and multiple balls.Inside there are different arches connected with each other,set on the ground with self-balance force.A bee lands at the center to lead a dynamic experience in the space.Unitary stainless steel is applied with 3D data generation and 3D laser cutting technology to construct a children amusement park.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The whole hive gives a sense of the joy of eating a few mouthfuls of honey. Add the children's interest and life sense in the shopping mall, so that the parents can get more interactive experience in the space. The interactive experience of data aesthetics and space in the path of space travel leads to the interweaving of children's happiness, forming a feeling of atmosphere.We hope that the design can be integrated with nature, data technology and emotion, so that the design has vitality.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design time of the project is from October 2017 to November 2017, and the completion time is from November 2017 to December 2017. The art installation is on display in SCP PLAZA in Shenzhen, China.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The art installation uses 3D data generation technology, and the end of the round pipe is cut and shaped by 3D laser cutting technology, so as to achieve delicate sewing. The whole body adopts 2mm thick 304# stainless steel round pipe welding forming, roasting yellow car paint. The mechanical characteristics of the arch structure allow it to balance its own forces without any structural fixation and additional structural support.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research type of honeycomb project is independent art installation, which aims to combine art installation with theme shops. Considering the business orientation and interior design style of the commercial complex, the leisure and entertainment function of the open corridor area is defined without destroying the original indoor structure. We also need to take into account the subsequent development, such as the solution that can be used as a display area, store entry and commercial activities. Therefore, the permeability of the device is emphasized in the design method.
CHALLENGE: Honeycomb design requires a lot of complex data output to build extremely simple structures, and aircraft welders are invited to conduct the construction and welding of 3D intelligent cutting. Construction will take 12 hours to complete the delicate assembly of the device. Implementation, technology, installation, and time constraints are all challenges that require a reasonable solution. In terms of design, it is necessary to integrate art installations with the combination of business formats, the setting of themes and the expansion of subsequent functions.
