RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research started by brainstorming session, followed by visual and textual secondary research. Content analysis was used as as part of the visual research method.
CHALLENGE: During the design process we faced several challenges. Mainly, the name (Fatira) is not understandable by the British culture. Moreover, the iconic symbolism for the pie in the western culture is different from that of the oriental culture. Hence, we used the symbolic western pie as well as the mixer and the rolling pin to balance the abstraction of the term with the simple symbolism so that it is visually, and easily understood.
