| DESIGN NAME: Moonlight Brooch PRIMARY FUNCTION: Brooch INSPIRATION: The inspiration comes from the scenery of summer of my memory: cool summer nights, bright moonlight, leaves, water drops, trees round the fence... All these objects come from my campus ,which bring me beautiful emotions . Once in my heart, even so misty and far away ，the romance ,it is still a picturesque and indelible poetry to me. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: My work concentrates on the original creation, with unlimited inspiration and creative spirit as design concept.Focusing on the integration of the ancient oriental aesthetic and contemporary style, It is committed to using the modern way to interpret the traditional sense of beauty-the combination of geometric shapes with classic pearls, creates a small romantic and futuristic piece of art. With the unique modern handicraft, the unique artistic jewelry is created, thus push the boundary of contemporary jewelry field. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The brooch can be worn on a thick cloth as the pin the made of two stainless steel which is thick enough to support the weight of the brooch.And a plain color cloth is preferred to match the style of the brooch , make the outstanding looking of the wearer. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is start from 2009 in London,now in China,it is still developing into other jewellery collections. the work was exhibited in London origin 2009,revive 2017 korea |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Originally, my work is made by hand,with the many materials ,such as 18K gold, silver, pearl, aquamarine,stainless steel.the aim is giving colorful to the brooch. Transforming the 2D drawing to 3D form, my work was created with traditional metal technique,soldering, SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dimension of the brooch is 70mm perfect round shape with 15mm height, which look like a small piece of relief sculpture. As a metalwork, it is a rather strong structure and can be easily pack up in the standard square box and be brought to everywhere. TAGS: geometric elegant oriental romantic style futuristic RESEARCH ABSTRACT: My research process is hand drawing, paper model, hand made metal work.With the unique oriental romantic style , It is regards as one of my representative art work from the international view, both western and eastern professional media,giving the very fresh jewellery art style to current Chinese commercial jewellery field. CHALLENGE: How to organize the different element to the perfect round linear shape ,make the shape keep simple but rich looking with my geometric form unit . The soldering technique is a challenge to me as i must solder one small piece by one small piece together ,which is hand cut by hand and file to accurate outline so that the forms together will be harmonious and unity.
