FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
XN: simple but unique. inspired by the memory of my high school life.
FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
XN: the romantic feel of moonlight, geomitric form conbine with tradition pearl,gem stone.
FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
XN: reproduce with precious metal, try to promote in the international market
FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
XN: i forget, maybe one month.
FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
XN: This will remind me the happy time in my younth age. I decided to pursuit an inspiration.
FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
XN: I intend to produce my owrk by myself.
FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
XN: Iread the chinese fairy tale about the moon in my childhood ,which always exists in my mind, it is romantic story that influnce me. I created this piece in UK, where I stayed for many year ,I miss my hometown, miss my past age, this is a record of life process.
FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
XN: high aesthetic standard people
FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
XN: conbination of material and delicate colour.
FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
XN: by the story of the work.
FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
XN: saw,torch, file,tweezers, polish tools, stone setting tools.
FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
XN: Romantic and futuristic style
FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
XN: Designed and made by myself.
FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
XN: good hand make skill good soldering skill is the core technique.
FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
XN: full moon shape means perfect life in chinese culture.
FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
XN: How the plant form place and combination ,make the piece more appeal to the viewer.
FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
XN: This work has a character with oriential esthetics and reproduceble that may has a potential market in the future.
FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
XN: color combination
