| DESIGN NAME: Church in Hardangervidda PRIMARY FUNCTION: Religous INSPIRATION: At the beginning of designing this church, we have tried to show the visual aspect of it, in the metaphorical identity of both the interior and exterior design of the building. The ascension was the key to designing the project by lifting a steeple of the building on a high elevation of the mountains and making the cross frame transparent and illuminant there by the large glass around it; on the other side of it, we could explore the church on the way to reach it, from all surrounding areas. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design of this church, with the axis of ascension and faith, with simplest and purest features, with the use of indigenous materials as well as the access to the highest point of plateau (the metaphor of ascension and faith due to the difficulty of access to the building), was something much more difficult than our simple concerns about our other projects in the recent years. This was while we tried to pay attention to the integration of the different parts, during the design process. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: One of the important issues in designing this project was the way clients were accessed, which, due to the unique features of people who visit the plateau and the surrounding mountains annually, we have tried to create an ideal environment for all visitors by providing the divers access forms (walking, rock climbing and cycling). PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design process started in March 2017 and is located in Norway and on one of the Hardangervidda plateau's mountains. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Thermowood, Dark Block Stone, Galvanized Steel SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - TAGS: The ascension, Faith, Indigenous material RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In a world full of modern congestion, the lack of religion and the roots of belief causes many religions to be forgotten, and the new generation of human beings are immersed in the pace of technological progress and the passage of time. What we know in all religions as a single word is the liberation from materialism and mortal world. By designing such buildings, we can help our next generation to reconcile with their own self-utopian. CHALLENGE: Our main challenge in designing this project was to achieve a suitable location in terms of visibility and maximum use of natural light, as well as providing convenient paths for customers to access.
