| DESIGN NAME: City of Saint Aubin du Cormier PRIMARY FUNCTION: Greetings Card INSPIRATION: As the book "Where's Wally?", this comic map illustrates lots of details from Saint-Aubin-du-Cormi UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: I proposed to create an illustrated card from Saint-Aubin-du-Cormi OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This card can be used by the municipality of the city for tourists or by teachers for pedagogic workshops. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The first step of this project (the greetings card) started in November 2017 and finished in December 2017. The second step started in January 2018 and finished in March 2017. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Drawing by hand with a graphic tablet SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: First Step : the greetings card : 210 x 100 millimeters Second Step : a map : 620 x 490 millimeters TAGS: Map, City, Illustration, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: An iconographic research to facilitate the creation / Access to a bank of photos of the city by the town hall (google drive) / Many meetings with the deputy mayor to validate all stages of creation / comments of residents after publication of the map greetings: the pleasure of discovering and recognizing the details of the city where we live ... a tourist and fun discovery. CHALLENGE: There were several obstacles to succeeding this creative challenge. First: the iconographic research to facilitate the creation of illustrations. Second: to find the right balance between representation and interpretation of the city. Third: to draw on the graphic tablet for two reasons: to facilitate the multiple corrections of the illustrated card and to have a vectorized drawing which will make it possible to print the map in small or big without altering the quality of the drawing.
