DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Conversations

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Stone Scenes

INSPIRATION:
The inspiration came from different types of communication occurred between persons. It can be the conversation between a couple, a family, two enemies, two groups of people, a boss and an employee, or the Buddha and a follower. The situation can be full of love or tense.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The richness of shape and details enables a long term display and appreciation. People can circle or walk around each setting to enjoy each one in different orientations.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
This installation is intended to be displayed statically.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This project started from scratch since 2016 in Taipei Taiwan. Most of the time went to the search of stones in different textures and shapes.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Fine Arts and Art Installation Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The production process needs analogic analysis in texture and shapes. Extreme patience was required to put all the related stones together without glues or stickers except one. All the settings are still posed in a balance.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The collections have sizes varying from 38cm x 10cm 5cm to 15cm x 8cm x 17cm.

TAGS:
stone art, tabletop display, Gobi stones, Septarian nodule stones

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Researches were made to the materials, shapes, colors, textures, and tones of each stone component. Each type of stone has to be evaluated for best suitable scene or scenario. Textures can be made in a contrast manner to deliver a specific story.

CHALLENGE:
The collection of stones was never diversified enough to meet your need in the beginning. The major challenge comes from the connection between the natural shapes of stones and the proposed scenarios or gestures. The size and scale of either party has to be balanced. Some cases apply contrast sizes to exaggerate the difference.
