RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research :Green Architecture between Theory and Practice (A Critical Analysis of Green Architecture Applications in Arab Region)
Objectives:the objective of research is to evaluate the implementation of green architecture criteria and principals in the Arab region and what is the best built projects that provided an integrative solutions in the design, construction and operation.
Methodology:Research methodology adopted a sequential steps, firstly, the definition and theoretical roots of Green Architecture, Secondly, the analytical study that examines the types and standards of the globally Green building rating systems and strategies as an indicative model for assessment. Thirdly, select 5 green built projects in the Arab region as a case study to apply the assessment model through some important parameters to achieve the research objectives.
Result: Green Architecture is an integrative design approach to achieve a balance between architecture and the natural environment the research has provided a critical vision of green building applications in Arab region specially in the residential buildings.
the best implementation of the green building concept can lead to a reduction of carbon emission by thirty five percent, water usage by forty percent, solid waste reduction by seventy percent and reduction in energy consumption by fifty percent.
CHALLENGE: The proposed design brings the concept of lateral living to a city characterized by its vertically accented architecture, creating a contemporary interpretation of an historic setting, the challenge was how to provide the best solutions within a small plot area and achieve the space program of 20 apartments required by the owner at the same time keep in mid the privacy and local culture of the end users.
