PRIMARY FUNCTION: Professional Hybrid Smart Watch
INSPIRATION: Designed for young business travelers who don't want to sacrifice style over functions. CITY is meant to help them to find work-life balance by following them everywhere from the gym to the boardroom.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With Invisible Tech hidden behind the elegance of European watch design, CITY marks a new era in fashionable tech-cessories. This professional hybrid smart watch with a one-year battery life never needs to be charged and goes beyond 24/7 activity tracking with a myriad of smart assistant features to encourage young business travelers to be more active and simplify their busy lives.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 24/7 activity and sleep tracking, automatic run detection, sedentary reminder, goal achievement display, world time synchronization, message/calls/alarm vibration alert, call rejection control, do not disturb feature, compass, camera remote control, paired Android & IOS mobile app
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2016 in Paris, design finished in April 2017 in Shanghai. The APP started in September 2017, finished January 2018 in Shanghai.
The project was exhibited in Hong Kong Mobile Electronics Trade Show in October 2017 in Hongkong and won the ''Best Product Design'' Award from the STARTUP LAUNCHPAD.
The product was revealed to consumers at IDEAL HOME SHOW in December 2017 in Shanghai.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We conducted in depth market research into specifically designed segments of the population who are most geared towards buying and using accessories such as watches and activity trackers. The objectives were to define a consumer base to cater a new product to, one that would have an obvious and direct positive impact on their lives. Our team studied global consumer segments covering such areas as sex, race, age, proclivity to fashion, adaption of new technologies, career orientation, and time spent traveling to determine what aspects of tradition and what of new technologies to incorporate into the overall design. In the case study for this latest watch, consumer insights were of utmost value to use as we truly wanted to create something for the individual.
CHALLENGE: How to answer the needs of a consumer base that seeks a healthy lifestyle while still maintaining a highly active work life.
How to make the smart usage scenario easier without changing normal watch-use habits. How to respect traditional watch design while simultaneously integrating smart functions that modern consumers are coming to expect in a wide range of products.
How to find solutions to making the battery life as long as possible (currently one year which is 20 times longer than other smartwatches).
