DESIGN NAME: NFLxFIT
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Event Visual System Design
INSPIRATION: This event identity system was designed for the NFLxFIT Visual Identity Design Exhibition and Award Ceremony. The primary mark, "shield x dot," was inspired by the logos of the two collaborating brands, NFL and FIT. The grey pattern consists of iconic shapes extracted from all 32 NFL team logos. The core design concept is to create a sophisticated unification of the identity from all organizations involved through a symphony of shapes.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The NFLxFIT Design Competition was a National Football League sponsored education program. Through a year-long workshop and lecture series leading up to the creation of the final designs, this contest provided FIT students with an opportunity to learn from the industry professionals, apply their creativity to real-world design projects, and gain international exposures. This visual system was applied to all visual communications ranging from outdoor signage to the napkin used at the gala night.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This experiential graphic design created an immersive experience for visitors of the event gala night.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January, 2017 and completed in April, 2017.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: NFLxFIT visual system design went through the creative process of event planning start from project definition, research, strategy, development, presentation and refinement, final product, and the final execution and public relations. This is a collaboration between the FIT's Communication and External Relations office, NFL's Marketing Department, and Cynda Media Lab.
CHALLENGE: The two collaborating brands, NFL and FIT, have completely different brand identity. Moreover, the NFL has 32 clubs which also have their own visual system. Therefore, the biggest challenge is to define a visual concept to connect all parties.
