| DESIGN NAME: Loggia PRIMARY FUNCTION: Room divider INSPIRATION: Our workshop is full of tools to work with. We need a variety of tools to act in our lives. The tool could be a cooking utensil for cooking, or a towel to wash after a shower. These tools make our lives convenient. However, the archive of countless tools, different sizes and uses, is always a scourge for us. We hope that these tools can be handy and comfortable to use. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The loggia room divider consists of various types of frames and dozens of units which can be combined with the frame. Unlike furniture that is limited in space and function, you can customize it in moveable and transformative ways for your tastes and convenience. Frame structures that reduce weight and raise durability have been built in simple, yet sturdy designs. Anybody can create space easily anytime, anywhere with a combination of different units. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: First select the divider. A pair of divider is a basic component. Planning to use it in a large space, you can combine three or more. There are four types of dividers, each having different composition and number of unit pockets. After the selection, you choose units suitable for use. The types of units are nob, shelf, bookstand, blind and customized one. Select units and insert them in unit pockets. Then the installation is finished and the desired space is completed at the same time. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This work started in Seoul in january of 2017 and has completed two types of dividers in august. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Mortise and tenon joint system for building a traditional wooden house. Foldable divider with brass hinges. Frame: Wood frame, Brass hinge Unit: Wood, Brass, Leather Unit Unit System: Mortise and Tenon joint SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Folded: w600mm x d60mm x h1600mm Unfolded: w1200mm x d30mm x h1600mm Unit pocket (mortise): width 10mm Unit (tenon): width 10mm TAGS: Artizac, loggia, divider, partition, furniture, separator, clothes, rack RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Considering the frequent moves of busy modern people and increasingly smaller residential environments, I have tried to design the transformable and stylish furniture. After a series of considerations, folding type design is developed and it can be upgraded and multipurpose with variety types of units. CHALLENGE: It took a long time to provide the opportunities of using dividers and collect the feedback, and it could never be done at once. We continue to conduct research on several types of dividers and collect the feedback.
