| DESIGN NAME: Design Hotel Navis PRIMARY FUNCTION: Signage and Branding INSPIRATION: Hotel Navis is a 5 star design hotel, situated in Opatija, Croatia. The hotel has 44 rooms and each of them has the most beautiful sea view - just as if you were on a ship, somewhere out in the open sea. Speaking of ships, the word „Navis“ stands for „ship“ in latin , and since the owner of the hotel is Mr. Krunoslav Kapetanovic (Kapetanovic is a derivative of the word “captain” in Croatian) the direction of the branding and design was immediately set. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Once the geographical position of the hotel got included, the story became even more interesting. Preluk bay, where the hotel was built, is the northernmost spot where the Adriatic sea penetrates the Croatian coast – the key word being North. The name and the location were the ones that defined the direction of this ship's supporting elements for the branding. Compass, coordinates and the GPS-like arrow did the rest of the job.
