DESIGN NAME: Every Day of The Week
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Illustrations-Personal Project
INSPIRATION: For this project, I was inspired by cubism (from the interwar period), surrealism and medieval stained glass windows. I love to make a combinations of stylization and a more classical way of drawing the human figure with a surreal twist.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 7 Drawings, one for every day of the week. The girls are a personification of the day. The illustrations are made with pencil and colored digitally. With this technique, I try to create dept and a natural feel to the drawings.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: There is a drawing for every weekday. They reflect the emotions trough the week.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was created from July 10 till July 18. I made a new drawing for every day and posted it on my blog stefrymenants.be

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I use magazines, the internet and my own lifedrawing studies to determine the position and the anatomy of the figures. This includes a lot of sketching of course. Afterwards, I will try to simplify the forms and lines to get a very structured composition. The definitive drawing will be scanned and colored digitally.
CHALLENGE: The drawings refer to stained glass compositions in Roman and Gothic churches. To divide an image in lines and forms helps to create a strong composition. It is for me a challenge to adjust figures and objects to the basic composition-lines.
