INSPIRATION: The qualifiers for the incentive trip will be visiting both Moscow and St Petersburg. Saint Basil’s Cathedral and Church on Spilled Blood have been chosen as icons to represent the respective cities. These icons act as design elements throughout the look & feel as well as the stylised Khokhloma pattern (traditional Russian painting style). These elements are combined to complement each other, creating a beautiful rendition of the essence of Russia.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Discovery Star Awards is an internal incentive that encourages performance within Discovery. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Khokhloma - Khokhloma is the name of a traditional Russian folk art. It is a style of handpainting and national ornament fabrication, known for its distinctive flower patterns, making use of mostly red, green and gold on a black background. Khokhloma is mostly painted onto wood, making it look heavier and metal-like.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to combine the feel of the destination with the exclusive prestige and honour of the Star Award itself, to ensure that the qualifiers felt that this trip was a once in a lifetime experience.
