RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The map itself is a beauty. I wanted to transfer it to a three dimensional object. My long study of maps and GIS technology made it possible to acquire a current maps of the cities. Using laser technology I was able to create a layered model of a city. Wood is a uniquely patterned natural material and it was chosen for this design. It gives an additional rare value for each work.
CHALLENGE: The final design is a product of a long battle between wood and city pattern. To find this unique proportion of width and depth of the each street, many prototypes were created. The color of the wood of each layer makes the whole design readable and visible as a city map.
