| DESIGN NAME: Two-ply Tyre PRIMARY FUNCTION: A new tyre INSPIRATION: Through observation, we found that the width of the spare tire was equivalent to 2/3 of the regular tire. This inspired me to change the tire into two parts, and if one part breaks another still can work. The tyre was eventually designed as the two cavities. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a tire with two cavity. The advantage is that if the sharp things break the tire, only one of the cavity leaks, and the other remains intact, which makes the whole tyre not completely deflated. As a result, the car can run safely for a time, and it will not change direction suddenly. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The most important technique of this design is to change the original trachea into a bifurcation trachea. The basic material of the tyre is still rubber. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - TAGS: - RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I did some prototypes to verify the principle of inflation. CHALLENGE: The biggest design difficulty of the tire is to consider how to inflate the two cavity and maintain the relative independence of the two cavity. NAME: NANOIN DESIGN PROFILE: The word ‘NANOIN’ came from philosophical reflection of micro design. The Chinese word ‘wei’（with the same meaning of micro） appeared earliest in Oracle with the meaning of ‘old people walking slowly with crutch’. That was used to describe elder’s weak image. Modern Chinese explains this word including 3 key meanings: small size, softly and vague. Micro design, using traditional Chinese philosophy to balance the relationship of human, objects and environment. Human changes objects carefully in order to make everything develops correctly and naturally. The extent of that people feel the object depends on people’s mind. Miscellaneous objects constitute the environment and the integral effect influences the sense of human. So we put both object and human to the whole environment to discuss their future for the purpose of getting the best equilibrium point. Treating object gently and changing object carefully is a way to mitigate burden on the environment. Also is what NANOIN always want to say. We hope these small efforts could be eventually aggregated to be a great change of our living home. |
