PRIMARY FUNCTION: Apartment House
INSPIRATION: Since Japan is not a large land area, it is necessary to effectively utilize a small site, so there are many properties with corridors installed on one side of a plate-like building. Due to that cause lighting and ventilation are difficult to obtain. Privacy can not be kept because the wall and the neighbor are connected by a single piece. Also, we can not measure communication of Japanese morals. This planning method can solve all of them.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: We planned a joint housing of five houses and offices on an elongated site with a width of 15 meters by 50 meters. A semi-open courtyard which is a void space was placed in each dwelling unit. The effect is to ensure lighting and ventilation at each dwelling unit and to reduce privacy by reducing wooden vibration and noise complaints. In addition, the courtyard became a good communication place with the neighborhood.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Consumers are easy to obtain luminescence by having the living room and dining room on the second floor, and because privacy from the neighbor is secured, it is possible to live an open and safe life. Since the material of the floor uses teak, there is a sense of quality and foot touch is also good. The courtyard in front of the bedroom is green living as consumers can use it freely.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2011 in Nagoya-shi,Aichi-ken, Japan and finished in June 2012 in Nagoya-shi,Aichi-ken, Japan.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Many Japanese apartment houses improve the occupancy rate by introducing state-of-the-art equipment, but deterioration in occupancy rate becomes obsolete. Because the essence of living in a house is that it is in a rich living environment, planning this apartment house because architectural design and communication are important rather than facilities.
CHALLENGE: It is important to design effectively design for long long site. I warned that I could live richly so that the interior space did not feel narrow. In the external space, we designed sunshine efficiently while keeping privacy and designed a useless distance so that human relations with the next house become effective.
