| DESIGN NAME: Vera Handbag PRIMARY FUNCTION: DIY Leather Kit INSPIRATION: To teach and inspire amateur enthusiasts how to do leather craft themselves and help savvy crafters to accomplish more intricate projects, by providing expert step by step guidance, well curated DIY kit, and the perfect canvas to carry out leather carving, stamping, dyeing and more artistic leather craft expressions. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Leather raw, natural and unpredictable nature combined with traditional leather crafting techniques produce durable, timeless pieces that bear sign of life not found in mass production. The Vera Handbag balances the natural properties of leather with a versatile design and simple to construct fabrication process. Selecting quality vegetable tanned leather ranging from 0.8 -2.4mm thickness to accommodate various leatherworking techniques. Maximizing surface area to showcase stamp, carving and color details while keeping the construction straight forward and easy to complete from start to finish. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This kit is intended for different experience-level crafters. Each kit contains precut leather panels, hardware and assembly instructions. Users will find the recommended tools needed to complete the project. The step by step instruction is illustrated with photographs and Chinese English descriptions. Crafters can simply follow the instruction from prepare the leather, mark positions, punch holes to hand stitch and final stages of leather care. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2015 and finished in September 2015, and was sold in store in February 2016. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The primary material used in the kit is vegetable tanned leather, which is produced using ingredients found in nature. It is the most environmentally responsible tanning process, results in better wear and desirable natural patina appearance over time. Paired with solid brass buckle and loops, these simplistic yet refined hardware coordinates well with any decorative surface treatment. This curated DIY leather craft kit includes precut leather patterns, paired hardware and step by step assembly instruction. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Exposure to natural sun light will gradually change the color appearance of vegetable tanned leather, craft paper was selected as the packaging material to block the light. The assembled finished product measures approx. 15cm x 26cm x13cm. Creating a comprehensive leather craft DIY program that educate and inspire people to engage and grow in the craft. 2. Creating universal designs that comprises all skill level crafters, while providing advancement capability for individual creative expressions. 3. Providing extensive yet budget conscious tool list to complete each kit. 4. Instruction in expert yet simple to follow language.
