| DESIGN NAME: Tei PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: The site is on a hill with commanding views of the ocean just below. The client's request was for a space taking advantage of this location that would allow him to spend quiet time pursuing his hobbies after retirement. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: To intake a rich environment. But this time is not villa architecture but personal housing. Then firstly we started to make structure based on that it is able to spend usual life comfortably without unreasonableness on the whole plan. Then we introduces the preference of customer and planed " reading deck " as a half-outside space room with book storage whereby only this locality. It is a usage suggestion on outside space in Kochi prefecture that have similar environment as Southeast Asia. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2013 in Japan and finished in April 2014 . PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The site is surrounded by naturally growing tall trees and due to concerns over humidity,the first story floor elevation was raised one meter above normal. The first floor LDK was made to feel like more visual floating feeling by making "Engawa" along which looked like bouncing out as "Wa" was make by a "Horigotasu&quo SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Wooden 2 stories · Construction area: 67.07 m² · Total floor space: 122.55 m² TAGS: Wood,Sun set ,House,Librar,Pacifi RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After the completion of construction,the owner is making the most of the rich environment not only for reading,but also enjoying drinks while watching the sun set into the Pacific Ocean. CHALLENGE: It was designed with an emphasis on how to link the outdoors and the daily life seamlessly in Kochi Prefecture which has warm climate where the surrounding environment is nice and you can spend most of your time outdoors throughout a year. NAME: kiriko design office PROFILE: It was about 40 years ago that they established "Kiriko Design Office" in Kochi Prefecture being surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the mountains in Shikoku district, which is about 800 km away from Tokyo, the center of the Japanese architectural field. Currently Masaaki Uemori and Kokutou Uemori are managing the design office. The feature of their work is that they use a lot of local natural materials. |
