Ultrasound devices family

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Cosmetic appliances

INSPIRATION:
Our clients asked us to make ultrasound devices and controllers family. I made a number of sketches, watched competitors design and inspiration came over. Fresh, clear shapes, minimalism, accomplishment of metal and plastic combination are definitions of my design. My goal was to make an innovative and aesthetic design for the whole family of products, that could be comfortable, smart and simple to use.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The trolley is designed for carrying and controlling 5 ultrasonic devices. There is a touch screen installed for controlling all functions. Trolley carries 5 ultrasonic devices used for making skin look younger and nicer. There is some space inside to put oils, towels and etc. Due to bluetooth technology there are no wires for 5 heads, so trolley looks more aesthetic. The smaller device is used to have 3 ultrasonic heads. It can be used in small clinics or at home.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Trolley can be moved easily, because it has 4 wheels. 5 ultrasonic heads are placed on the top of device in separate plastic tray. After use tray can be easily taken out and cleaned if needed. All functions are controlled using touchpads. Bluetooth technology allows user to use ultrasonic heads up to 25 meters around. Ultrasonic heads can be easily charged and once charged can last up to 10 hours. User can use more than one ultrasonic head at the same time.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in 2016 and design finished in 2017. Some engineering is still being done.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The most trolley parts are moulded and assembled using internal screws. Metal parts are standard anodized aluminium profiles sectioned and bended. Ultrasonic heads are made from moulded plastic and metal components that are die casted. Devices have LED stripes on both sides indicating different user modes. The trolley has 10'' screen while the smaller device has 7''. The smaller device is made from two moulded plastic parts and anodized aluminium frame, which also does support function.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Trolley: Width: 500, Depth 520 mm, Height 950 mm. 10 inches screen is on the top and two touch pads (each has 4 indicating LED-s). Ultrasonic heads are charged via metal contacts. Ultrasonic heads have ultrasound emitters, and led stripes on both sides. Smaller device: Width 250 mm, Depth 97 mm, Height 160 mm. It has 7 inches screen, two touch pads and pcb inside. 3 ultrasonic heads, smaller ones are inside the devices. There are charging contacts inside for ultrasonic heads.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Design solution was generated after many sketches, models and selected of 7 designs that I offered. I was working over 6 months in order to achieve the best result. I attended medical devices exhibition, analysed a number of competitors designs, I had interviews with prospective users, scientists and engineers. This design is also based on client's wishes, as they are the team of businessmen, scientists and managers.

CHALLENGE:
In order to achieve an original shape and style I had been working really hard. The main issue was to select production possibilities for metal parts, but I found the solution after professional engineers recommendations and consultations. The second obstacle was to think where to put ultrasonic heads in order for the user to be able to apply them comfortably. Also, there is not much information about such kind of ultrasonic devices and trolleys that are designed to carry them.

Technokosmeda is company that makes ultrasound devices for cosmetic procedures. Company has ultrasound research department where they are developing ultrasound technology. Company is developing new products line which consists of: Trolley, 5 ultrasonic heads for office use and 1 ultrasonic head for home use. Technokosmeda has a product name "HQSONIC"
