| DESIGN NAME: Damavand House Residence PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: The typology of residential building in my project's neibourhood, guid me to design considering sloping roof and insisting on pure forms in my architectural design, on the other hand, conclude this uniqe form finally. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main concept is based on an sloped unique box wich is pushed by an stone wedge.The site of this project is a field situated on a mountain slope,overlooking a beautiful plain.So it was desided to have a better view by building up 3 floors above the ground.The neighborhood is a mix of small land division and so condense that blocks easternly and westernly sides of the field.The cold climate pose a design challenge.So a special consideration has been given to snow removal from the roof. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The cold climate and mountainous weather conditions pose a design challenge. So, a special consideration has been given to snow removal from the roof (to reduce the dead load tensions and protecting precipitation isolation), thermal isolation in the exterior walls, and acounting for higher efficiency of mechanical and water systems during intensive cold weather. For blocking heat being conducted through the floors, there are no voids or free vertical connections, despite the aesthetic preference of the architect. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The metal structure was assembled by welded connections in the site of the project wich was made and tested(QC) in the factory.For metal coverage of the main white box,the main lines and framing should be executed properly by the team.Coverage was made up of modular extruded metal sheets wich was chained to each ohter according to make a water insulated skin.Polypropylene-l SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Site area= 450 sqm / residence area=390 sqm/ ground floor is just for garage and mecanical room and wc(100 sqm).First floor contains public spaces(140 sqm).Second floor contains private rooms(100 sqm) plus the main terrace(50 sqm). TAGS: residence,sloping,pu RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Befor starting to design,typology of the neibouhood was scanned.It was figured out that all the building nearby were constructed with slopping roof considering heavy snow in winters. Asking about material ideas from the client, helped me to choose more efficient material with best price and turnover. CHALLENGE: The structure design due to the inclined columns turned out to be challenging in the earthquake-prone region. It was also difficult to make the metal skin with its acurate pattern and too be simultaneously sealed.
