RESEARCH ABSTRACT: First I researched Ottoman art, I choose Ebru, Ottoman binding, Ottoman figures, Ottoman symbols to combine them with contemporary art. Secondly I researched which Turkish artist's works exhibited in Contemporary Istanbul. I found the artwork informations from Contemporary Istanbul Exhibition official website and for Ottoman art I research from some of Turkish history websites. I went to Eminonu for Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi Coffee Shop to learn information and also to find material.
CHALLENGE: The hardest part of this design was illustration part. I tried so many things to find proper visualization for four series. Ottoman figures are similar but in Contemporary art there are lots of choices. Combination is the main thing in this project and I did many sketches for success.
