| DESIGN NAME: TWIST PRIMARY FUNCTION: Dinner Set INSPIRATION: The idea of round and square was got from the theory of "a square earth and spherical heavens" of ancient Chinese, which also represents the theory of Yin and Yang. The colors refer to Chinese celadon, celeste glaze,cowpea red glaze and so on. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Twist style chopsticks, bowl and plate. The bowl is twisted from round to square. The plate is twisted from square to round with a groove to hold chopsticks. The body of the chopsticks are twisted. Placing the chopsticks horizontally makes it easier for people to pick up. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When the whole dinner set is placed together, it shows the differences and also the harmony of round and square. TWIST makes it happens. The groove on the plate is to place the chopsticks horizontally, which is handy for people to pick up. It's humanized. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2016 in Zhuhai and finished in February 2017 in Guangzhou. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 180mm x Depth 180mm x Height 80mm TAGS: dinner set, china, twist, bowl, chopstick, plate, dish RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research about how people think about Cultural and Creative products. Found out that most people appreciate it because it's not like some art being so unreachable. It can really connect to everyone's daily life. CHALLENGE: The hardest part is to find a good way to represent the theory of Yin and Yang in a modern dinner set. It must show the contradiction but also the coherence of two concept.
