| DESIGN NAME: Horticultural Expo 2019 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Logo and VI INSPIRATION: The logo showcases six colorful flower petals swaying around the Great Wall, which vividly illustrates the theme concept of International Horticultural Exposition under the Great Wall. The Three-colored, Six-petal peace flower bears the traditional Chinese philosophical theory the six direction, implying the heaven and the universe. We adopted overlapping and gradient to feature technology and fashion. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Beijing Expo 2019 is an A1 world horticultural exposition which has been approved by the International Association of Horticultural Producers and the Bureau International des Expositions, held by the Chinese government and sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Government. We provide the logo and visual identity system for the event. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The logo and integral VI system will be applied to all products and visual displays in the venue. Further more, this VI system is well immersed with the conference atmosphere, and will further extend visitor's comprehension of the event. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in December 2015 in Beijing and finished in June 2016 in Beijing. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The logo showcases six colorful flower petals swaying around the Great Wall, which vividly illustrates the theme concept of International Horticultural Exposition under the Great Wall. The Three-colored, Six-petal peace flower bears the traditional Chinese philosophical theory, the six direction, implying the heaven and the universe. We adopted overlapping and gradient to feature technology and fashion. The subtle combination between the flower petals and the Great is highly identifiable. Integrally, the logo comprises extrinsic fashion and intrinsic oriental culture. We conducted research focusing on the historic path of horticulture development in Beijing and China, and withdrawed the element of the Great Wall and flower petals. This ensures that the logo could demonstrate both culture and environment. CHALLENGE: The horticultural exposition features both environment and culture. Therefore, it is important to illustrate the host country's culture meanwhile features the concept of environment friendly.
