DESIGN NAME: Wistful Man Diary
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Translated Iranian Poetry
INSPIRATION: Frequent use of poems of Iranian 14th century poet Hafez as a divination in Iranians everyday life was the inspiration of the concept. The cover design is inspired from Iranian lithographic books & floral ornament of Iranian miniatures. The color is inspired by blue shades of Iranian architecture.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Translating Iranian Contemporary poetry to Armenian is my parallel avocation. Translating a poem a day was only a fun challenge form me. After half a year I decided to turn it into an anthology with a unique concept. There are 365 short poems, a poem per page, a poem per day, plus 1 extra poem for leap year. The book is limited edition; 365 plus 1. The book is small enough to be carried in the pocket as a daily diary. The aim was to make a semi handmade souvenir.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Every person could open a random page & find his/her poem of the day.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The translations started in 2014 & took one year. The design and concept process started from beginning of 2015 to late February.
