Stool

INSPIRATION:
The stool, as something necessary in an architectural and industrial design office. It makes someone have a coloquial behaviour, and to get along well with another. It connects people. Number three is the sign of the artistic expression, sociability, simpathy and impartiality. Optimism, happiness and joy of life. It's simple, light and comfortable.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
A stool that stands up with three legs. The softness of the wool felt seat contrast with the simple steel structure that join the wooden body.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
This stool stands up differently from others, just because of its structure. Feet rest on the wire structure, not on the wooden body. The upholstered felt seat makes it more comfortable and visualy more friendly and elegant. Handmade crafted is what makes the difference

It comes in satin chrome or mat black powder coated steel finish. The seat is upholstered with hand made Merino wool felt, from uruguayan sheeps. The legs are lathed pursuing different sections from the top to the bottom. They are braced with the wire structure that stands like independent from the wooden body. RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The reaserch identified the type of a seat that links people. Because of the way it is used, the posture that adopt a person when using the stool. The project's main objective was to use local materials and uruguayan workforce. There were made a lot of sketches before the last idea came up. 3D models were made, handmade and digital renderings, and a prototype were made before the production was started. Several samples of upholstery felt were made, and finally two were chosen.

CHALLENGE:
The hardest part of this design process was to make the legs stand up like there weren´t any joined structure. The hand made felt makes the production have a human scale, detailed, loved but yet less dynamic
