DESIGN NAME: Staatsoper Hamburg
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Corporate Design
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for the Staatsoper Hamburg has come from the architecture of the State Opera. A high recognition value is created and an elegant and high-quality aesthetic is conveyed by the distinctive use of the colours. The gold tone always forms a design frame, which is filled and staged with colour. Multi-facetted staging possibilites emerge through the cut colour fields. The typography is always big and eye-catching but yet retains its fine and modern character.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In 2015, a new design concept was developed for the three traditional houses of Hamburg. For the first time, the Hamburg State Opera, the Hamburg Ballet and the Philharmonic State Orchestra Hamburg present themselves under one roof in the new season 2015/2016. The new corporate design we created connects the houses through a unique colour code. The colour fields have a playful and catchy effect on the gold, which is inspired by the architecture of the State Opera.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research was based on focusing the overlapping parts of the three houses to find common ground and the essence of cultural identity in Hamburg. From this we got more of a local point of view.
CHALLENGE: The creative challenges encountered were mainly trying to encorporate all three house into one design identity. We overcame this through a lot of research and liasing with the client.
